Our Story

Inspired by play, designed and refined during nap times, we knew we wanted to create a product that was functional yet beautiful. Life with little ones can be messy, our aim was to create something that made life a little bit easier. We were searching for a machine washable, completely waterproof mat that wasn't overly loud and colourful, something that seamlessly fit into our living rooms and little darlings lives. Thats when the vision for Darling Folk was born and our journey to create a bespoke yet practical product began.

Our mats are designed not just for childhood but to be loved well into the future years. From our initial idea through to the process of bringing our mats to life and delivering them to your front door, we were conscious of our impact on the world,  thoughtfully considering every aspect of Darling Folk. We value a sustainable future for our children to grow and play and our planet to thrive.  

We wanted to create a product that would last, not just in the physical sense but also when considering our prints. We created designs that are timeless and versatile to negate design trends in the market, products that will last more than one season. We have worked closely with a talented local artist, Sharina Cowie, to create visually stunning one of a kind prints.
